Heritage

About Us 

Heritage means those aspects of the past and present that we want to share with future generations.

The role of the Heritage Branch is to work with the community to conserve and promote the Territory's natural and cultural heritage.

The Heritage Branch administers the Heritage Act. It undertakes many activities in achieving the objectives of the Act, including:

  • supporting the Heritage Council;
  • provision of advice;
  • assists the owners of heritage places through the Heritage Incentives Program, including the NT Heritage Grants Program;
  • promoting heritage and encouraging good conservation practice, including adaptive re-use;
  • overseeing the Conservation Program for NT Government-owned heritage assets.
